Judge President Raphael Yanyi, who has been presiding over the trial of Vital Kamerhe , Chief of Staff of President Felix Tshisekedi, was declared dead in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
According to the police commissioner of Kinahasa Sylvano Kasongo, the judge died at a health facility where he was rushed after suffering a heart attack; and was not assassinated as earlier reports alleged.
Vital Kamerhe is currently being detained at Kinshasa Central Makala prison on charges of embezzlement. His trial has been adjourned for the 03 June 2020
