BREAKING: JUDGE YANYI DIED FROM POISONING
An autopsy conducted on the body of Judge Raphael Yanyi, has confirmed that he died from poisoning. The judge was declared dead in the early hours of Wednesday morning 27 May 2020, shortly after being rushed to hospital in the capital Kinahasa.
He was the Chief Judge presiding over the corruption trial of Vital Kamerhe and his co-accused Samih Jammal.
Both men are accused of embezzling money allocated for President Felix Tshisekedi's 100 EMERGENCY PROGRAMME.
According to family members the Judge had been doing well the whole day before complaining about not feeling well, and was rushed to Centre de Nganda health facility
Judge Raphael's death had sparked protests in the Kinahasa, with both his family and civil society demanding that an autopsy be carried out.
The trial will resume on the 3 of June 2020. Vital Kemehre's wife, Amida Shatur, is expected to testify as a witness, after the state prosecutor made a request for her to appear in court
