AZARIAS RUBERWA: I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR PEOPLE DYING IN THE PRESIDENCY
Congolese State Minister in Charge of Decentralisation Azarias Ruberwa, told reporters that he was shocked when he learned of someone accusing him of being responsible for the deaths that have occured in the office of President Felix Tshisekedi.
Since the beginning of the year more than six people working in close proximity to Felix Tshisekedi have lost their lives , including one of his advisors, Eusebe Mputu Mbambi Shako, who recently relocated from Canada. While some have died from Coronavirus, the cause of death for others have not been publicly confirmed, raising all sorts of suspicions and conspiracy theories.
Speaking to the media, the minister pointed to two facebook accounts that had been opened to drive a campaign that would tarnish his image; on the facebook timeline Ruberwa was also accused of hiding 2000 military men in his private residence, with the intention of destabilising state institutions.
Ruberwa also revealed that he was even reported to one of Tshisekedi's advisors, who was told to keep an eye on him.
He has since managed to identify the owner of the facebook accounts and had laid charges; the individual was arrested and currently being held at Kinshasa's Central Makala Prison, the minister said.
Azarias Ruberwa is one of the longest serving minister since the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) held democratic elections in 2011. He belongs to the Banyamulenge tribe, a minority group that shares strong cultural roots with the people of neighbouring Rwanda. Given the political animosity between Rwanda and DRC, Azarias Ruberwa has often been accused of being a spy for the Kigali regime and subjected to discrimination
