DRCONGO: THE FINANCIAL DIRECTOR FOR THE CIVIL HOUSE OF THE HEAD OF STATE ARRESTED FOR CORRUPTION

Celestin Mwambi, who was recently appointed the Financial Director for the Civil House of President Felix Tshisekedi, has been arrested for allegedly embezzling USD2 million. This was revealed by the Public Prosecutor at the Appeal Court of Gombe, on Monday 15 June 2020.
According to the Prosecutor, Mr Mwambi is being detained at Kinshasa's Central Makala Prison as temporary measure, while his file is being finalised.
Last month Mwambi had claimed he was a victim of conspiracy from people who wanted to tarnish his image; he made the comment after rumors began circulating that he had used money meant to pay the salaries for employees working at the Civil House of the Head of State to buy land worth USD25 million.
But Mwambi denied these claims and said he bought the land in 2016 for USD 40000 while working along side Bishop Gerard Mulumba, who was his predecessor. The Bishop died on April 15 2020 year from coronavirus
